Tach Troubles
« on: Sep 10, 2005, 04:13:01 PM »
Howdy, I'm havin some trouble with the tachometer in my truck.  I did the conversion to the SR5 gauge cluster and all the gauges work, including the tach, but I don't think it's working properly.  With the trans in neutral, I rev the motor and the tach climbs just as it should but when I accelerate, say in second gear, I can hear the motor winding up but the tach will hang around 2500 rpm longer than it should.  Also when I'm cruising the highway in 5th gear with very little throttle and the tachometer reading about 3000, but when I get on the gas pedal, the tach needle will drop about 500 rpm.  I'm guessing I may be looking at an electrical problem, or is this stuff kinda normal?  Thanks for any advice!
