Where to find....
« on: Jul 04, 2005, 10:35:38 PM »
I need to find extremely long coil overs suitable for a rear 4-link.

Any sites or places around that yall know of?

Also, what shocks would you recommend?

While I'm on the topic, do All Pro's 6" front lift springs flex very well?  They claim 19+, just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.  Or what would be the best setup for the front.

I'm sure they will flex better than 19". Our 4" Springs get at least 23" I believe

where cant you find coilovers, but who runs coilovers anymore its all about the Fox 2.5 airshocks. try BTF, Crawltech, Poly Performance, RBS, Shaffers, Offroad wharehouse, Kartek etc. Vendors section on Pirate is your best bet.

Why does it seem like 18" of travel on a 4-link is not doing too good?

I run all pro 5 inch springs in the front, they flex real nice. I tuck my 40'sas far as the shocks will let me. I'm pretty sure the 6 inch have some good flex. good luck bro

Will just the front hanger move my axle forward?  Or will I need new mounts in the rear of the springs as well?

I moved my front axle by re-drilling the spring perches on the axle ( it moved forward 1 inch) I had too run a 4 degree shim because of the arch on the spring.

Will just putting in a new front hanger move it forward as well?  Or do I have to do some more work?

You could also fab your own front spring hanger and move your front axle forward as far as you want, that is what I did and ended up moving mine up one and a half inches.

On the hanger, I'd say build your own. You can set it as far forward as you want and you can play with th eheight if you want the springs located higher or lower from stock. You might have to relocate the rear shackle eye through the frame for proper shackle angle though. On the coil overs. All the big names have good product, Fox, Sway A Way, and there are some good air shocks out there too. Fox, Walker Evans, Sway A Way all have decent shocks but you need to be careful because some of these are made for light vehicles like buggies. Also, I think it is HBRK that has made an air shock that can incorporate a coil so you can have either an air shock or a coil over in one shock. Many manufacturers offer 12, 14, 16, and 18" shocks. Most people agree that 16" is plenty as you are talking about 16" of movement, roughly a foot in from your farthest point out where the articulation is usually measured.
