a340 to a750 swap
« on: Nov 21, 2014, 01:20:47 AM »
Hi everyone, I need help. I'm wanting to throw in the a750 in place of my a340. Specs 05 taco 2.7. What I'm mainly concerned about is will my bell bolt onto the a750 tranny? It would also be wonderful if someone had a a750 handy so I could attempt it first hand. Please help.

How are you going to control the A750 shift solenoids? They are not the same as the A340 at all. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have a 5spd auto in my truck too but looking at the schematics I don't know if it will work without a new harness and computer control system. I've been eyeing this swap for years but the control solenoids have me concerned.

Yeah I talked that over with my auto teacher at my college. He said it should work as the ecu only powers the tranny and take it's reading from the tranny on speed and all that what not thingy. Lol. It is the shifter that really controls the solenoids, by which gear you select it tells the solenoid which to turn on and which to turn off.

Lol sorry if i sound rude.

Nope you do not sound rude. So then do the swap and keep us all informed on what it takes to do it. Your teacher should be able to help you through it from what you say.

Thank you. Ok I'll give it a go then. It'll be sweet to have a 2.7 with the 5 speed. Lol

I have heard nothing on this, knew someone that was going to try more recently but never really got into it I think.
