OME Springs on an 84 xtra
« on: Oct 18, 2016, 06:52:43 PM »
I've got OME springs on my yota and I've had em  less than a year now. When I first put em on the ass sat a little higher than the front which wasn't too big of a deal at the time, but now it's looking like my front springs are going pretty flat...would it be a good idea to try and throw an add leaf on the front? I bought a couple pro comp 21"1/2" add leafs to see if that could help but i wanted to get some other opinions before jumping into the job.

I like to use leaves from stock packs.  The material is softer than an add a leaf and it's already broken in so once you get it right it won't settle much.

A flat front spring is not necessarily a bad thing.  I take it you need more ride height?

Yea, when I put the OME suspension on I had to remove a leaf from the rear because of how high it sat, and even then it was still higher than the front. I'm just trying to get the front level with the rear at this point, without losing lift.

Off the shelf add-a-leafs tend to stiffen the ride, would be better off running a leaf from a used set between the mains and the next leaf, this should give you about 400lbs of additional capacity w/o stiffening the ride., and about 1-2" of lift.
