Newbie seat question
« on: Mar 28, 2016, 01:21:46 PM »
Been a long time guys, I use to be on here all the time back in the day and I've been outta the Yota game for a very long time, since I sold my crawler.   :sad2:

I just bought my son an 89 Toyota truck that has a bench seat.  He is wanting to change them over to bucket seats and I was wondering if there are any other car/truck seats that will bolt directly in to place on this truck with no mods.

I may be back on here more than I ever imagined because he wants a solid axle under it eventually too.

Thanks

2nd gen Runner, SR5 truck, 60/40 split bench(non SR5X-cabs) will bolt up the easiest, Celica seats and MR2's work as well, if he is tall, MR2 seats will work the best as they have the thinnest backs.  From there just about any Japanese seat will line up with the outer two mounts, the inner front mount usually has to be drilled, the inner rear often lines up with the seat belt mount, or you drill a hole(reinforce w/large washers).  The only issue I have found with post 2000 Japanese seats is the height of the bottom cushion with the sedans.

before the cab swap, I pulled out my bench seat and bolted in a couple of buckets from a 2nd gen runner... only 3 bolts, but they were secure
