 You can't beat the cheap reliability of toyota axles, but imo once you throw the 40's on yota axles your gonna start having problems. I'd say 38's max for toyotas on rocks.  You have no idea what your missing until you wheel the 1 tons though, the width and weight down low is just awesome, and it's nice to throw the pedal down and not worry about breaking. I'd say it's really all up to you to decide what will work best for yourself, if it's your only vehicle or dd, you wheel really tight trails, or never plan to run above a 38 then I would go toyotas. If you want the width, can't keep your toyota axles in one piece, and want to run 40's and up then go 1 tons.

 X2 on the fj80's, best of both worlds. I would run those over anything if I could find a set.
