It would defiantly keep the lift down. I have no clue about the strength though. If you did do that what I would suggest, get a hold of a press break and
bend 90's at the red circles. For the inner parts of each spring hanger use separately bent 90's welded to the 1st piece then
gusset the inner corner.
After all that get a piece of say 1/4" and make your own

May seem like alot of work and I may be over thinking it but I would rather it be to strong then not strong enough.
