I was bench racing with a well known, highly respected fabricator one day about trussing Toyota front-ends and he said, "More Toyota housings get screwed up by some idiot welding those trusses on then, then get bent from wheeling". I no longer truss them. The one that is on my rig now is bent and it happend as I was coming off the trail on to pavement, I hit a two foot tall rock at about 20 MPH, hit it and bounced so hard it threw my dog out the half door and on to the pavement. She was OK, just a rude awaking.

Thats why you have to know what the hell you are doing when you weld on an axle.... You dont just burn a hot fatty two foot bead long all at once. You do an inch or so at a time and let it cool. If you dont have the skills or knowledge then dont attempt it. Its not the trussing thats messing them up, its the imbeciles who warp the damn housings.

But anyway, just do your research and do your swap RIGHT the FIRST time :beerchug:
