I am pretty sure the steel used for the stock U bolts had a fairly low carbon % since they tend to stretch easy.  Either or the ones ive made lasted one hard trip up the con but may break going over a speed bump.  Its nearly impossible to say. 
When I have my axles out to swap over to my other truck I plan on building some sort of gusset to keep the spring perch planted to the axle.  There isnt a whole lot I can do in regards to the bolts ive used cept wait and see what happens.
