When i built my motor i did budget build up on it but made sure i didn't skimp on the important things on these motors like a good head gasket and arp head studs. here is the following things i used when i rebuilt my motor. Keep in mind i did all the work myself to cut on cost.
ARP had studs (120.00)
SCE titan Head gasket (130.00)
Bottom end bearings (60.00)
Nippon racing pistons with molly rings (125.00 ebay)
HD timing chain kit (35.00 ebay)
Engine gasket kit (70.00 felpro)
Machine work (450.00, re do head, bore .40 over, tank and deck block, turn crank, check rods)
Turbo oil pump (90.00)
Misc. pieces parts (70.00)
So i had a total of about 1150 in my long block setup. This is about the same is going out and buying a re man long block. But it will all depend on how bad of shape your motor is in b4 u do the rebuild to on how much u will spend in the end. if u wanted to rebuild a turbo motor you should budget around 1300.00 to be safe.
