3" is good for 1" lift and 36" tires.
You may just have the wrong backspacing on your wheels.
Either way sounds like you need to cut or relocate.

This is cut 3" and axle moved forward 2" with a 1" lift.

I am running stock toyota 15x7 inch rims maybe this is part of the problem. Can I get away with cutting maybe 2"off the fenders? Also the truck in my avatar is my truck just for reference.
