i tested it by blowing through my fuel line.  went easy until there was a wee bit of gas in the slight glass then i felt resistance(float shutting  off the flow).

this place either better fix it for free or they get an earful from me

and my motor is going to be carb only, as i have an '82 block/head with no provions for an EFI manifold like '83-up blocks.  if i do it again i'll  probably go with an '85 or newer block and a new engnbldr head as there's a lot less headaches than working with the early engines.
