All winch lines should be inspected after each trip out, provided they were used. Steel is by far more durable than the synthetic, but steel stretches and then you better be really quick on your feet. Synthetic has a certain saftey factor or feeling of safety at least. Perhaps someone will come out with a Chromoly cable.
