sounds like someone put the tcase shifter in backwards, unscrew the shifter knob, then take the rubber boot off around the tcase shifter then the smaller boot thats around the base of the shifter, under that smaller boot is a type of a c clip, remove the c clip then the shifter will come out of the base, flip the shifter 180 degrees and re install
