OK i went out looking for a 5 speed tranny today i found one on line the guy said it was in a 86 4runner. so i called him and asked what kind it was and of course he don't know how to tell :smack: so i asked if it was a top shift t case and if it was off of a 22re. it was and he cant send a pick, it sounded like a w56, so i went to go look to day (60 miles one way) and when i got there it was a older cast steel housing  :( but he said he would go down to $125 for it but would not split them i passed.

thats kinda high for an unexpected L series trans BUT the tcase would be a top shift and you could sell the L50 or L52 whichever it was for $50

on the way home i stopped by a towing yard and they have a w56 and case for $125 but the tranny shifter has bin out of it for three months  what do you guys think would bee the better deal or should i pass/ :dunno:

depends again, was the tranny sitting outside for this 3 months?? was it in a truck so it didn't get rained on ??  if it wasn't where it could have been rained into it  would be a good price because you could end up with a good tranny, or at least a good core

o and the yard had a front axle with a v6 third for $100
GO BUY IT NOW,   front axles didnt come with v6 3rds so its very possible it already had deeper gears installed and possibly a locker

even if stock and had worn out knuckles it s worth $100
