Are you talking about putting RTV around the OD of the rear main seal? If so that is a no no. Mabye you pushed the seal in to far or you hit it in crooked. The only place you need some RTV on the rear main is the metal part that houses the seal on the bottom flat part that mates up with the oil pan. All this info is assuming you have a 20r or 22r re. By the looks of your avitar its a 90s runner not sure if you have a 2.4 or a 3.0. But all the info i gave you should work on all 4 cyls. Tell me if that helps or if you need more info.
