steve before I bought my Dodge I towed with a Tahoe but it was 4wd. swapped in drilled and slotted rotors (after the oe's warped from towing) it was a Z71 equipped and had HD trans cooler factory. I also used a sway control hitch setup which made a huge difference in the handling. Alos make sure you use a good brake controller
