If you get a 4Runner you know it's a Toyota.  There are several manufacturing companies for pick ups.

I had a 2nd generation truck and now have a 1st gen 4Runner.  If you get the extended cab truck and don't need the back seat for family reasons you'll end up with a lighter truck that is easier to fix damage on.

The truck bed is easier to replace than the 4Runner tub and weight kills you off road.  My 4Runner will actually stall easier off road with duals than my truck did with a single 4.7.  I have larger tires with the same gears, but it's amazing how much heavier it feels overall.
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved
