What we are telling you to do is caused because the shift collars have a 2 degree female taper and the mating shift hubs have a 2 degree male taper. This design helps prevent the t/case from walking out of gear however, is not uncommon for the mating parts to get locked togeather. This condition should get better in time as you use the t/case more.
