will that Tcase or xcase as you put it, work with a W56 tranny?
yes it will but the gears are known as the noisy gears in the early transfer cases they do wine a little,
I think pics are needed, alot of people don't know what they have he said it looks to be original but he thought the case was newer and if it is original in an 81 its a l50 not an l52, l52 only came in 83 only, 80-82 5 speeds were l50's 4 speeds were l45 and the older 4 speeds 79ish were l40's, and the 50's and 45's look very similar to and l52 expecially a l50 there almost identical on the outside to a 52. Also I see these things for $50 all the time with case I'd say it is worth $150 expecially with bad bearings in the tranny
