Topic: New model 22r in 1st gen pickup?

The engine in my 82 pickup is starting to develop a knock (older style 22r).  I found a 22r (newer style) out of a wrecked 1987 4x4 pickup.  Will the new style engine fit in the older trucks? Are the wiring plugs the same? If not what is required to make it work?

you just use the ignition and distributor from your old one and your old carb will bolt right up on the newer engine too.
