You might want to try the 2.28 stock gears first as the 4.7 might be a bit deep unless you are doing some serious rock crawling.
If you saw with your own eyes how these go together you would have no doubt about the system as a whole. The tolerances I've experienced in building units like this could never be noticed by a driver.
