I don't know about the cams, but the cylinder head on your '85 22R is the same cylinder head as on the '87 22RE. You should be able to see unused bolt holes along the top of the intake manifold mounting face on the head of your '85 22R. Those are for the fuel rail on 22RE's, which carbureted 22R's don't have. Toyota made one head for the 22R/RE motors starting in late 1984.
I'm in the same boat as you, I've got a dead 1992 22RE sitting on an engine stand and a 1986 22R in my '84 pickup. I've often thought it would be easiest to pull the head from the 22RE with the intake and exhaust manifolds attached and just drop them onto my R motor. You will need a knock sensor mounted on your block too. It goes on the block back behind the oil filter. My 86 22R has a boss on the block where it goes, but I can't tell if it is threaded or needs to be drilled and tapped. There is also a fuel damper for the EFI bolted on the block right behind that.
My 1992 motor is just sitting though, because I've decided that I'm not putting the energy and resources into any 22R/RE upgrades. I'm going to put a Supra 7M-GE in my SR5 xtra cab truck instead.
