I have a 1980 truck, and the front was smashed so I welded on a core support from an 82 truck. The headlights bolted back on. The only difference is one side just had holes, rather than a nut welded to the backside. So I had to use a bolt and nut to attatched everything on the passenger side, but no big deal. The grilles should interchange from year to year. I put an 82 grill on with my round lights just to see what it looked like at one point.
It has been years mayby he is right, mayby I didnt have to drill holes mayby just put in some like 1/2" long bolts
