A battery with a shorted sell or sells may still have good voltage short term, but will drain down over time. If you find the battery to be the problem you could pick it up and drop it from a 1" or two to knock the sediment off the bottom of the plates. This may improve the problem as the sediment builds up on the bottom and shorts out the cells.
If the test light comes on there is a draw. If it comes on and goes right out it does not meen there is a draw. There is just a clock circut or the electronics is charging a memory circut. This should not be enough to drain a good battery.
If you have a millamp amp meter you could use it in place of the test light to measure the amount of draw.
