I have not seen the factory bolts shear off in service, but I have seen many factory bolts break from being over tightened.
But when I say break, from my experience, they yield and twist, yet they are still installed and ran! I've removed factory bolts before and only the bolt heads came off; the threaded section stays in the hole. That means that bolt was as useful as a wooden peg.
In terms of the factory ones failing in service? No, I have not heard of this. But we offer them because it is a very inexpensive and very practical way to make an important component more reliable.
These Grade-8.8 bolts will not stretch as much as the Grade-5 bolts (stronger tensile strength) so they may be removed/replaced many times more. Because they are stronger, they may also be torqued to 20 ft-lbs instead of
I believe 12 ft-lbs (factory bolts), which clamps the pressure plate more firmly to the flywheel (and higher friction between the two).
I think its a no-brainer. Its cheap, simple, great to have if you lost any/all of your factory bolts, everything else is "Heavy Duty" so why not the bolts too-
Marlin has had these bolts in his cabinet for a looong time. Marlin has been using them for many years now.
We have many small items like this that have never gone on the website.
We have many more new products, that have needed to be available online, that we are working on putting up soon.
