Wait, dont change that bearing quite yet.

The backing plate MUST wobble because the wheel bearing is a high performance bouble sealed roller type. To remove the wobble, it would require a double row tapered timken style bearing set similar to what is used in the front hubs!

After you install a new bearing [if you need it] the backing plate will still wobble.

It is always better to replace an old wheel bearing, however, first begin by carefully prying off the tan colored oil shield, and inspect for pits and/or debris in the bearing.

If you did not have any axle bearing noise before you removed the axles, chances are your old bearings are still serviceable. Always insist on using the original quality bearing [Koyo] and a good quality seal. We sell a very high quality bearing kit that includes everthing you need.
