If you use a pre 1996 motor your going to have to have a custom $400 computer made or you can make your 2001 motor into a 1996 . I made my 99' into a 96' because you can get the computer almost any where. I only found only one guy that can mod the computer. So he can set the price to whatever he wants. Another issue if you use a Toyota five speed is you have to use a 153 tooth flywheel no big deal bolts right on. Then you put on the AA bell housing no big . Then you go look for a starter that is not made and can not be made!!!! That's right the bolt pattern you are looking for is a offset pattern and that starter was never made for a 153 tooth flywheel !!! So this is what you have to do. Get a starter for a 1984 camaro with a 305 motor. It has a 153 flywheel. It is a straight across bolt pattern. On the back of the motor you will see a boss that GM did not drill and tap, bolt up the starter with the fly wheel on , use the one bolt hole that works then prick punch through the other starter hole, remove starter drill and tap be sure the shim starter , and your done.
