Personally I would never pull backwards, metals tend to have load memory and when you continue to stress it one way then all of a sudden load it the other, kabluey. Especially a Dana 44, though we're talking birfields. I've seen more people blow an axle pulling backwards.

That is interesting. Never heard that. I'll keep that in mind.
