also use a good cleaner like MEK to get any dirt or oil from your hands off the area your applying the fiberglass to.  make sure you "clock" the cloth that is you want the weave to go in different directions.  wear some rubber gloves some of that resin can be pretty nasty the fumes kill brain  cells by the millions and I've seen somebody pass out before.  It was glass and resin used on airplanes so it was a little bit better stuff than you can find in an auto store.  another trick to make it a little less messy is you can lay your cloth down flat on a piece of clear drop cloth pour some resin on it lay down another drop cloth over the top and spread the resin with a squeegee then peel one side off and position it on your repair and peel off the other side
