If you do decide to sell the 5.71's I wouldn't waste your time trying to peddle them on any bulletin boards. Put them on Ebay first and they will sell. I was in the same situation as you. I bought my truck with 38s and 5.71s. I took out the 5.71s and couldn't sell them for the life of me until I posted them on ebay. The first day I received 7 emails and stopped the auction early. I ultimately got 600$ for them. I sold both carriers which consisted of a 8" rear third with a Detroit locker, and the front carrier was a 7.5" Ifs. I couldn't get 250$ for them previously. The previous owner told me he spent 1500$ on the gears with full rebuilds, but since I never paid anything for them I would have been happy with a lot less than 6 bills. There are plenty of uninformed people on ebay that will buy anything. But you also need to consider what the cost of replacement will be for 5.29s. The truck drove excellent with the 5.71s however, and in my opinion are a good street gear for driveability with that size of tire. :)
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough
