they never added a truss to the top, in '79-80 there was no truss, '81-83 there was a truss on the bottom going about halfway across the long side, and '84-85 the truss ran all the way to the spring perch.  no huge difference in strength when you take it over a dune, but a lot of guys seem to think it makes them more valuable.

the front end is 55" WMS, and in the US it came geared with 3.90, 4.10, 4.11, 4.30 and 4.375 gears over the span of 1979-1985.  diff came as an 8" ring gear, 2 pinion, 1 piece carrier.  shafts are 1.3" diameter 30 spline.  closed knuckle, with birfield joints.  brakes were solid rotors(not sure on diameter) with fixed 4 piston calipers.
