Isn't it Sky that makes a full floater kit? It's spendy though from what I recall, like 700 bones. Is there a machinest here on the board that could make the adapter that bolts onto the housing, that the spendle bolts to? Then axles still have to be made.
I believe it's Front Range as I was just looking at this the other day. Besides the $789 currently listed on their web page, you need to provide a lot of components to finish the job. This will be true whether you purchase their kit or try it yourself. These parts are not provided with their kit:
- Factory wheel bearings for 79-95 front axles.
Factory hubs from 81-85 solid axle truck.
Factory locking hubs from 79-85 truck.
Inner wheel bearing seal.
Stock 79-85 front spindles
"Loaded" calipers from early Supra.
If you have the spare solid axle front hubs, locking hubs, bearings, and spindle then only the Supra calipers are left. They run about $120 at NAPA but don't forget the $70 core. That makes $380 for the pair assuming you don't have Supra caliper cores laying around. The other items would start to add up quickly as well. I estimated that the actual cost of full-floating an axle with this kit would be $1200 to $1600. That's a lot of coin but it's cheaper than a Dana 60 and you are effectively doing a disc brake conversion that retains a parking brake at the same time. You also get to keep your third member and locker by building the 8".
