for anyone interested I figured the problem out.
after driving it a couple miles it got to where the truck did not want to move at all and would slow down like I was riding the brakes.
that was my first clue after getting to where I was going the front brakes were very hot , so today I adjusted the brake pedal I had swapped in and everything is good to go.
