Both of these 2WD bells will fit 4WD transmissions. However, I would not advise using them, because they are both light, thin cast versions that were not designed for the added weight of the t/case.

Left side, 9 bolt small pattern;
  81-88 G40 4 speed
  84-95 W45, 46 4 speed

  81-95 G52, 53, 54, 57, 58,  5 speed
  84-95 W52, 52, 55, 56 5 speed

Right side, 7 bolt dual pattern
  69-80 L40, 42, 43 4 speed

  71-84 W40, 42 4 speed
  71-85 W50, 52 5 speed


hey Marlin a guy i know has a 89 with the G40,  can it be made into a 5 speed like the L45????
