As far as the powerband of the 22RE, I believe it would make decent torque through-out the RPM range. Also the I've heard the long stroke (3.62 inches) safely limits RPMs to around 6000.
:headscratch:    6000 ???   ive had mine over 7500, very short time though

torque starts building in these little guys really low,  depending  on the cam profile and cam timing  anywhere from 1500-2500
