hmmmm, I need it to be in same spot, its a clean nice truck and I dont wanna cut the floor at all, all I care about is its a functioning trans in stock spot, strength isnt a concern to me. Which trucks did the g54 come in?

G54 can be found in 86 and 87 carb trucks. I've heard they are almost as strong as the W.

Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

They are identical.  Its hard to even tell the diff between a G54 and a W56C.
Imo the G54 is a better transmission.  Ive rarely heard of one of them popping out of gear like the W series is known for.
I am pretty sure even the bell housing are interchangeable.

Looking for a tranny to replace the same layout at Sparkplug W56 C.  I heard the way to tell a W56 is it has 6 bolts on the shift plate and a G series has 8.  Is this correct?  I picked this up and didn't know but guy said it was a W56 C but after I got it home noticed the 8 bolts and mine has 6 (hindsight rookie here).
Any good W56 C's out there?

Do you need the case also, or just the tranny?

Forward shift and only 4 bolts on the shifter plate, looks like a G52 to me.

Also, please do not post in 5+ year old listings the belong to someone else!!!!
You woke up a super old thread, that all the original posters get notified of (how I found it) (I don't have a trans to sell anymore)

The g has a different shift rail configuration.  The w56c w56d and w56e all have the same 6 bolt single baseplate with the dual shifters.  The rf1a from a g52/g54 won't bolt up to the w56.  I just sold a w56 from my 92 I'm parting out for $150

You can crack both rf1a's and swap the shift rails but if you don't have the g54 shift lever SOL just sold one to a hawaiian customer.  I Still have the g52/g54 tcase shift lever listed on rbay (i charge the least on there but if not its either cuz of my quality or cuz someone is trying to undercut me so just bring it to my attention and i may be able to undercut them)
