If you are looking for the Official Registration page with full event info, then please click here:
http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=79850.0

Marlin Crawler is looking for individuals or 4WD clubs who are willing to lead organized groups into the Springs camp ground for the 10th Annual Round Up this September 16-18, 2011.

This thread will soon contain a list of available groups with a fixed number of open slots. Once some groups start appearing, simply post up to be included in a first-come first-serve basis (by post date). I will update and maintain this thread with group information.

I am hoping to fill the following four different options for groups:
  • Loon Lake In-bound Groups
  • Tahoe Lake In-bound Groups
and for the exit strategy,
  • Loon Lake Out-bound Groups
  • Tahoe Lake Out-bound Groups

I know there have been clubs as well as individuals who have expressed interest in forming groups to wheel into the springs with. Please post up or send me a PM and I will add you to this thread with the number of rigs you'd be interested in taking in!!

Typically we don't quite hit 150 by the July 15 deadline, but only time will tell. What we always do is keep the Official Registration Thread updated with a list of all registered people, that way you can easily check the site to see how many spots are remaining

I thought it would be appropriate to post the Rubicon Trail Ethics and Getting Along guidelines here:

1. Stay on the trail. Never get off the trail. Do not camp some place where you have to make a new trail to get there. Make sure you know the current rules for camping (get on the FOTR email list or check with me if you're in doubt).

2. Be smart about your tires. Air down; drive slow; and don't spin your tires where you don't need to. Stay on the rocks.

3. Follow the established route. Do not create a new route or bypass.

4. Be courteous of other drivers. Don't hold up the line and upset those behind you when you don't need to or have an alternative (such as getting out of the way).

5. Pick up trash you see along the trail, and pack it out, please.

6. Talk to other riders/drivers about their bad habits if you see some.

7. Never drive into or through wet areas or meadows off the trail. Stay on the trail that avoids these sensitive spots.  Don't drive over vegetation. If you have to take a mud puddle that is part of the trail, take the most used line and go slow.

8. Keep the trail open. If your vehicle breaks down, try to limp it out of the way as soon as you can so as to not hold up those behind you. Every one is on a schedule these days. And no one likes to be held up. We all want to get as much fun in as we can in a short period of time. Be thoughtful. Carry a spill kit as well (fluids and oil recovery), free at the kiosk or from a member of the FOTR Trail Patrol.

9. Obey the law.

10. Don't drive over vegetation or make mud holes worse.

11. Help a wheeler in need.

12. Camp at least 100 feet from water sources (lakes, creeks, ponds).

13. Don't shoot in camps or along the trail. There are too many folks up there, and you never know where the granite will send you glancing bullet.

14. Drink responsibly.

15. Have fun; be safe; but be smart about our future.

I'm making plans to attend this year.  It will be my first time at the event and my first time on the 'con.  I have read about the Rubicon Trail since I was old enough to read and am super stoked to finally be able to attend!  I've wheeled all over Colorado and New Mexico but have never made it out to Cali.

I was thinking the best option, since I am coming from Colorado, would be to come in from Tahoe, and out the Loon Lake side, but I noticed all the groups are coming from Loon.  Any advice on which way would be better for me?

What are the specs of your rig.  Is it street legal?  Also are you towing or driving?  If you are towing you will have about 1.5 hour drive around to the other side if you go in the tahoe side and out loon.  If you plan on driving then it does not matter.  IMHO when you come in and out the tahoe side you dont see any on the good parts of the trail.  You are more than welcome to join us on the Thursday morning run.  If you have any other questions feel free to ask

no problem let mike know to add you to the list.  everything is still tentative but as it gets closer it will all come together.  right now it looks like our club will have 4-5 really built rigs coming along maybe more.

Specs: 94 Xtra cab, SAS'd, 37"  Krawlers (Blues), Longfields, Dual Cases, Elocker rear, Grizzly front, Bobbed....basically the usual stuff.  Yes its street legal.  I will be driving it there.  I would still definitely do the whole trail no matter what side I came in on.  I'm not going to drive out there from Colorado after wanting to for 20 years and not do the whole thing!!  Yes I'm definitely planning on getting there early to avoid "traffic", so I might take you up in that offer!  Thanks.

If you guys think of anything else that would help a guy new to the 'con, please let me know.  Thanks a bunch guys!!!   :beerchug:
