i have the ready welder and will never look back...  to me this is the option that makes sense.
pro-
-it can weld up to a half inch thick material quite easily and yet in the ssame breath turn it down enough to weld thinner stuff when needed.
-portability. you can take it anywhere and its not stuck in just one vehicle. this can get transfered from vehicle to vehicle easily where as the premier power welder is stuck to one vehicle. thats too much money for me to just be sitting..
-price. for the price i dont think there is anything else out there that can do the same job for cheaper.
-parts.  its fully rebuildable and parts for it are cheap..  i would assume that they are way cheaper than any one component of the other welder being that the other welder has expensive circuit boards and an alternator.

in short, get a high amp GM alt (100.00 ), ground base to frame or use mounts, field wire ( usually green ) goes to switched 12V (this activates the field when turned on), red positive goes to your + welding lead. Easy easy... I also used a hand throttle and electric fan to control amps and overheating.

I have a premium power welder on my rig and im in love with it.. I have used it more times than I can count on the trail... and havent had a complant yet.  I actually welded a guys spiders back together on the trail and hes kept them in for the last 6 months without problems.  Unlike the ready welder the premium power welder can weld dirty metal which is usually the case if its an on the trail break.  It also has a plug in to run things like a griders, drills, sawzall, etc.  Like the old saying goes... "you get what you pay for"

I absolutely love my ReadyWelder personally, has been used many times and saved many arses.  Can also be used as a spool gun for AL.

I got a tig for aluminum haha
