Front Range/Diamond Axle

Its a great upgrade to a rear end, the biggest advantage is that when you break an axle, #1 your tire will not fall off and #2 you can change your rear axle with out taking the tires off. You get disc brakes as a bonus.

I love that bumper.  What did you use for a latch and is it just pinned on the top support?  How do you like the hinge?  Better yet, how much did it run you ?

I can not for the life of me remember what you call the latch thing I bought, but it did cost me about $80 the top is pinned on the passanger side the driver side is bolted.

The hinge is friken awesome. Runs about $99 and works great. I can swing it open with a finger. That thing is basically just a front spindle from a car. It has all the same tappered bearing in it both top and bottom.

Not really, I figure a 37" MTR with a 15" Alumium rim weighs in at 80lbs. If you can get it on the tailgate then you're ok.

I got bored one day and realized that it was just air between the inner and out walls, i fabbed up this thing. Everywhere I go peoples heads turn and everyone says what the hell is that. Ah cool. So I talked to Marlin and he said that if I made few that he would try to sell them on this site. Rocky told me of an easier way to fab them the will look cleaner, so I'll try a few and if they sell. Then Marlin said he'd keep selling them. So if anyone wants one PM me and well talk. But I think Im going to make them a bolt on so there is no body work todo.

Self adhesive Rubber type gasket on the back of a flange about .75" wide, installed with self tappers. About 50 of them.
I used a Taco tank and cut one side down and turned sideways mounted behind rear axle.

The Taco tank is a little bigger than the old pick-up tanks. So I cut the small side of the tank to make it fit between the frame rails and stuck it behind the rear axle. All of the Toy tanks the sit in front of the axle have a shallow side to them so that they either slide under a seat (4Runner) or fit under a ladder bar on the frame.  So I cut that shallow side rather than the tall side because it meant that I lost fewer gallons.

I know thats dangerous, but I did take some precautions. I emptied the tank, and filled with water. I emptied the water and repeated that step several times and finally let it sit for about a weak with water in it to make sure that no remaining fuel elements were left in. I know that fuel can soak into the metal and stay there so figured that would do.

seeing the swinger in the mag while on the crapper  and in person, like anything else, is very deceptive. Looks nice in Brians writeup in 4wdToyowner but I had the pleasure of critiquing it up close a few weeks ago at the hammers and its very well built, quiet, looks sick and doesn't hinder trail performance a bit (departure angle (that I saw))

good work Brian
