depends on how it was assembled, if the edges of the combustion chamber were smoothed to prevent hotspots you should be ok with 87 octane, if nothing was done to prevent hot spots or the head was milled to further increase compression then yes you'll need to run 90 or higher octane thanks Glen.. it does not ping or diesel when i shut it off and runs like a PBC, I was having a prob with flooding after it warmed up and a friend told me to lower fuel pressure and i'm in the process now... small adjs i don't have a meteris it pinging on acceleration??

my 1980,if I dont run premium ,it pings and runs backwards when I shut it off.
whats a PBC ??
Pyrillian Battle Cruiser. Similar in size to the LBC however it is heavily armored and has anti-matter cannons in 8 positions.
