LCE 22r/20r head........higher octane?

I bought a 80' w/LCE  22r/20r head hybrid I quess they call it? should i be useing higher t han 87 octane? ???

depends on how it was assembled, if the edges of the combustion chamber were smoothed to prevent hotspots  you should be ok with 87 octane,  if nothing was done to prevent hot spots or the head was milled to further increase compression then yes you'll need to run 90 or higher octane

is it pinging on acceleration??

On my 80 22r/20r I ran 87 octane, in fact when I was in Utah I ran 85. As Glen said it depends on certain factors the most important one being if it is pining. If it doesn't ping then you should be OK. Understanding how the octane levels really work really helps knowing what it is all about. Some think that octane determines how explosive the fuel is, that is correct but not in the way most think. The higher in octane a fuel is the more evenly and smoothly it burns, the lower octane is, the more volatile and erratic in nature it is.

my 1980,if I dont run premium ,it pings and runs backwards when I shut it off.

Pyrillian Battle Cruiser. Similar in size to the LBC however it is heavily armored and has anti-matter cannons in 8 positions.
