CO4RJ (Colorado 4Runner Jamboree)
« on: Apr 15, 2008, 12:18:59 PM »
http://www.yotatech.com/f15/co4rj-2008-a-136929/

Anybody ever attended a CO4RJ in the past?  I attended back in '04 and had a good time.  I was rocking a stock 85 PU and ran Wheeler Lake.  If I can get enough people interested in it, I might be the one to plan it this year.  I would need some help though.  Anybody interested?  It's open to all Toyotas!

I'm thinking the BV area would be the best place to hold this event.  Back in '04, that's where they planned it.  We stayed in the group site at Chalk Creek and it was great.  Nice large open area for the tents and plenty of parking for the rigs.

There are a ton of trails in the area and quite a few easy / moderate / difficult trails to suit everyone's needs.

Just throwing the idea out there!

I would definitely be in with or without my truck done.  I'm sure Jared will want to go with his pickup as well.  Is this being planned for August 1st?

Right on!  The CO4RJ is usually held at the end of July / start of Aug right before school starts back up.  I just threw out the dates of Aug 1st, 2nd. and 3rd.  I actually don't know when my wife starts back to school.  I will have to check that out.

Yeah, along with BV Carnage, Holy Cross, Wheeler Lake, Iron Chest, Mount Antero, Grizzly Lake, Mount Princeton, Minesweeper

Yeah, but not everybody that attends is as built as we are.  It's nice to have a choice for all the levels of rigs and drivers.  That's why I really like the BV area!

I'm kinda thinking it would be nice to find a free campsite to host this event rather than Chalk Creek.  We could be as loud as we want and stay up late without bothering the rest of the Chalk Creek campground.  Plus I wouldn't have to deal with all the PayPal stuff associated to site reverations etc.....

Anybody have any suggestions about where to camp in the BV area that is close to the trails and the highway?  I don't want to have to drive 20-30 minutes on a backroad to get back to camp if we can avoid it.

Here's a link to Stay the Trail and Four Mile Travel Management Area (area east of BV).  This is a ton of BLM and USFS land in this area and looks like a decent place to camp for free.  Anybody ever camp in this area?  I'm specifcally looking at the McGee Gulch (CR 315), Shields Gulch (CR 305), Sevenmile Creek area or Bald Mtn. Gulch (CR 300) / Arnold Gulch (CR 300A) areas???  Are there any bigger camp sites to host a group of 20-30-40 rigs?

I'm looking to be close to the Hwy for easy access before and after the trail runs but still be out in the forrest with some nice campsites and not much traffic.

Right on!!!  You going to make it all 3 days or just for the weekend?  I'm going to take Aug 1st off from work and head up Thursday night (July 31st) to get us a good campsite.  Friday is Holy Cross since that place is a ZOO during the weekends.  Also, Mile High Jeep Club "All For Fun" weeklong event starts that Saturday the 2nd.  They are camping near Leadville (aka close to Holy Cross).  I have a feeling they will have quite a few Jeeps on that trail.

You bringing the 4Runner or the T100?  Is the 4Runner locked in the front?  You should be OK for Holy Cross and Chinamans but BV Carnage would be extremely tough without a front locker.

Glad to hear you can make it!

You'll still have a blast, even without a front locker.  No worries about coming out for the weekend.  I think most people will do the same.

i have a chevy 4.3L with a hanson A/c pump, with an in line oiler and everything it froze up solid. Upon some reading on pirate you can not convert that compressor.

And i was going to get new tires until i had two guys flake on me for those swap parts

So i dont have much money, my tranny is leaking by the adapter and i am burnt out on fixing it, kinda wanna park it in a field and throw rocks at it

Sorry to hear the bad luck COToy91.  Anyway to convert to a York for cheap?  I know some of the older cars (Volvo especially) had them as factory AC compressors and are cheap in the junkyards.

Hope you can still make the Jambo, should be a great time!  You're always welcome to come even if you don't bring the Toyota.  Maybe you can hope a ride with 854RUN since you guys live close?
