Weber specialist in Southern California
« on: Jun 26, 2007, 12:43:24 PM »
:help: I'd like to get my Weber finally jetted right and set up correctly for my truck. I have basically no carb experience and no time to learn right now as I need to drive out to havasu in a few weeks and would like this done before then. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone out there knows someone who I can take my truck to and have this done right. I would appreciate any recommendations... Oh, and I'm in orange county. Thanks.

I need it jetted because those things come from the factory set up for a stock engine. To get it running right, I have to have the fuel mixture screw out more than you're supposed to. According to weber, if the screw is out more than a couple turns (i cant remember the exact number) then it needs a re-jet. The carb runs pretty good considering, but it's running rich and I know it would run better if it was jetted right. I'm also still having problems with inconsistent dieseling because I just can't seem to get this thing dialed in. I've been playing around with this thing for too long and it's time to look for outside help. I know the Weber's are easy to work on, but I also know their finicky... Lack of carb experience and finicky = :dunno:

Coyote, to get to the jets do you just need to remove the top four(?) bolts. I could just order a re-jet set from weber, but when ordering the jets you have to be able to tell them which ones you need as there are two different kinds of jets. Are the jets easy to install? Maybe if I get the right jets in this thing it will be easier to dial in.  :hammerhead:

theres  6 screws  on the top and  remove the tiny C clip on the choke  and move it aside

the fuel jets  are in the bottom of the fuel bowl,  a  medium size  flat screw driver  will  take them out,  but  it will have a number,  150  or 142  or 130  sometrhing like that

if  you have a 20R  you need the 130 jets

the weber I'm running on a 20r right now has 140 main jets and 160 air jets on both . runs smooth to 5500rpm. i had 170 and 180 air jets with 139-150 main jets and it would cook right up t 6000rpm in 3rd in a real wornout engine. but with the bigger jets the mid range suffered. check that no one has screwed with your secondary adjustment. thats why mine likes to idle high. it's feeding off the secondary low speed circut.

I'm pretty sure that if you order a jet kit from weber that they will send you the  :_order: "correct" jets for your application. The weber is new (or a least I bought it new) so I know the jets are stock. I put a bit of work into my engine with 22r block, 20r head, bored over with bigger valves and on on... I did it once (hopefully) and I did it right. Point is that finding the right jets could be a little tricky since it's hard to go off of anyone else's setups. Anyway, anymore advice would be appreciated. I think I'll be calling weber soon to see what they can offer me.

cool.... right now I'm also putting together a 20/22r and well be jetting the carb for power and economy. Lc engineering has a bunch of jet kits. I'm going to start with a 140 main jet 170 air jet primary. 142-mj -160 air jet.. Then go from there. let me know what you find out for your engine.. I'll be installing this engine July 4th if all goes well. then if it don't blow up right away, I'll start tuning.

I have a 32/36 weber.. I pulled the top off and and have changed jets a few times. right now i'm running 140 main jets and 160 air jets in both primary and secondary. i have 130, 140, 150 main jets and i have 160 170 and 180 air jets, for tuning  I'm going to order some more jets but i think i'll have the motor in and running before they get here. After seeing what you've got maybe i'll try 140 fuel- 170 air primary and 150 fuel -180 air secondary to start.  then fine tune it as the new jets come in as needed.

The carb is a 32/36. I will try to check out the jets tomorrow and let you guys know what the carb came with. Could you tell me the specs of your engine coyote? If I could find someone with a similar setup to go off then that would save me a little guess work. Just so you guys know my engine is

22R block
20R head
22R aluminium rockers
DOA C270 Cam
DOA dual valve springs
DOA pistons .040 over
1MM oversize valves
ARP bottom end

And some other things that I can't remember off the top of my head. Pretty basic stuff, someone out there must have a similar setup. :dunno: Anyway, thanks again for the help, I'll get you guys those jet specs.

Glen, I have been doing some very extensive upgrades on my old yota. Have put on a header with tuned exhaust. It is a stock '81 22R. Want to add cam and new carb, what do you suggest? :dunno:

Does anyone have expierance with the 34/34? Since we are on the subject of carbs what do you guys think about the intake noise when adding a weber?

you mean the sound of more air/fuel mixture being sucked into the engine??   I love it :burnout:
