Knuckle Ball Gusset Kit
« on: Apr 06, 2006, 03:06:27 PM »
Check these out. I have bent my last housing.

Even with a lower or upper axle truss the front axle can still bend. These gussets strengthen the last weak link on your axle housing. They fit Toyota FJ40, 60, 62 Land Cruiser or pickup/4runner axle housings and include caps for the steering stop. Because of the size of the upper gusset and the location of the lower shock mount on Pickup and 4runners axles we have incorporated a new lower shock mount of the upper gusset. This upper gusset features a single shear lower shock mount (This is similar to the Land Cruiser).

Upper and Lower gussets are made of laser cut 3/8" steel while the steering stops are cut from ¼" steel.

Note: Some grinding may be needed to trim to fit these gussets. Welding, cutting and grinding required.

I like them, but would like them more if there was another tab to weld on for the other side of the shock bolt.

i just bought the kit and am a little confused on how to put it on.  Don't want to sound stupid but new to the toy scene and have no clue what the land Cruiser front shock setup looks like.  Do I cut the hole shock tabs off and center the gusset on top and weld the circle tab on the back.  I don't want to mess it up.  Do you guys have a pic of it in stalled?  Please help! Oh and by the way got my shipment to day and everything is great craftmanship.

:yikes:   um ok ive seen these on the Ftoy,  Kris i would think you could cut the one side of the shock tab off and put the gusset there,  then the bottom one in the center

looks like the small peice of tubing gets welded to the upper gusset then the shock slides onto it since its in single shear to take the stress off the bolt. Just like the factory rear shock mounts are basically

Anyone figure this out for sure? I know on the FROR kit you have to fab up new shock mounts but perhaps Marlin has out-designed them?

Still need a pic for the install.  I think you cut off the top shock mount and then weld the tube on the back side of the gusset.

THANKS A LOT.  Now I see how it goes.  So you take the hole shock mont off and weld the gusset in the middle .  The tube will go on the opposite side if the gusset from the shock.

$29 per axle. Our pic on the web only show 4 steering stop caps but you get 8 of them with the kit.

Here is an other pic of the kit on a FJ62 axle thats going under my FJ40.

What if someone doesn't need the steering stop gussets?  Mine are already gusseted.  Could we get the kit without them for a little cheaper of a price?

Of coarse. I'd need to crunch the numbers to see what the price difference would be. I'll post up the price.

Right here, you'd think (I'd have thought anyway) they'd be on the axle page...but they're armor.
