chevy 1/2 ton axle swap
« on: Jan 20, 2006, 09:22:34 PM »
Did anyone due a chevy 1/2 ton axle swap in there79- 81 toyota ?

I found front and rear axle from a half ton 77 suburban with 3.73 gears and a limited slip in the rear and i have a lock right laying in my garage for the front axle.

what do you think ? and what all has to be done to be able to get these axles into the toyota besides the driveline issue, any input would be great.

Thanks

do it..  fullwidth is sick..  and  high angle driveline can take care of the driveline issues so you can run toyota stuff.

You're gonna wanna change out those 3.73s unless you're planning on running 27" tires.

Once the xxles would be changed i would go with dual transfercase and low gears in at least one of them.
Chevy axles are 4 " wider and changing them would be no big deal either, a little cutting and welding, breaKlines and driveline's, done

no  lol the front axles  are 14 inches wider and the rear are 10 inches wider   the perches are  only a little bit wider.  i think like 32 pin to pin and yota is somthing like 29.

If your gonna do DANA axles, don't screw around, just throw a 60 up front and a 14 bolt out back. Do it right, and you will only do it once.

True, aren't the toyota axles equivalent to a Dana 44 anyway.

Who is arguing, just simply stating that if you are going to do it put in a 60 and be done wit it, i have built a toyota with chev axles, don't like the difference in width so i will spout a little if i want.
