Valve Cover Decals
« on: Dec 13, 2005, 06:52:39 AM »
I know Marlin sells 22R and 22r-e valve cover decals, but does anyone know where I could find a 20r decal? I'm putting together a 20r/22r and want to put both on the vavle cover, to confuse as well as be different.

Or should I just try to find a 20r cover in good shape and add a 22r decal?

i'm pretty sure toyota can set you up with one.  4x4wire's toy part number thread lists the '85-up(with red lines) 22R decal.

if you can find the part number, please share, i wouldn't mind putting one on my valve cover

i say jsut put the 22r sticker on the 20r cover... that would confuse peopel mroe than both stickers... both stickers is like having an sohc vtec and having the si stickers on the side of the car behind the doors..... the stickers that say dohc vtec

kyle, I got a 20r from the dealer for like $3.

What I, and maybe several others might like to find is a 21r sticker...I know it's a smaller disp. but its the number between 20 and 22 so it only makes sense...but alas that was a very limited japan/west coast (CA) motor and we easterners didn't get to see it.

Um, consider yourself lucky.  It was not a west coast engine.  It never saw US use and is considered a black market engine.  Since they didn't use 22rs in japan, the 21ru is what you recieve if you get a replacement low mile japan engine, as it is the only smog legal swap in engine.  They suck, period.  They're running about 30% less power than a 22r.

Yea, it sucks!  Years ago I bought an 83 lb 4by for $1200 with a 21ru, guy sold it cheap cause he thought the engine was about to go, and because of the engine it had.  The gauge kept falling to no oil pressure, but it happened once when I was in the woods and stayed there for about 15 miles so I figured it was ok, brother gave me a sending unit and it was fine.  I drove it for a year, front end started getting really loose, radiator was plugged up, and I was tired of the gutless engine and not being able to go 65 on flat ground, so I sold it for $2400.  Had I known then what I know now I would have kept it and fixed it up, cause it was an sr5 and was really a good truck, a/c worked great and so did all the rest of the drivetrain.  Life's full of regrets though, just gotta let it go and enjoy my current $800 truck.
