I want to share how I attacked building a snorkel... well kinda... the start of a snorkel. As in maybe the harder parts of getting ideas and hardware for the engine bay and good seals.
I have a weber carb on mine so i got the redline snorkel adapter
http://www.redlineweber.com/html/application_guide/DGV_Snorkle.htmNext I considered building my own air cleaner housing but after pouring over all kinds of air cleaner sizes and dimensions I decided to go with this K&N set up. I wanted a well made cleaner/housing and this seems pretty hardy.

http://www.pacificcustoms.com/ump-air-filter-canisters.htmlBeyond that you need a bracket to hold the air cleaner and a hole in the fender.
I built the bracket out of some 16g a and hole sawed a 4" hole through the fender.
I got some clean 4" exhaust tube from the local exhaust shop (just gave me a little scrap piece) to run through the fender.
Next needed to seal the air cleaner to the tube and went with a silicone tube that is for turbo/intake plumbing and such.
