so bringing back the dead, i finally got some time to work on the axles for this thing this last weekend. I started working on a bucket for my tractor but soon got bored and found my self stripping my front axle to widen it. from 12AM to 6:30AM i went from full axle to fully ground down and knuckle balls off.
here she is post plasma with one knuckle off
here is the rear awaiting it's turn
here is the bucket i got bored grinding off the cutting edge
cleaned off welding table to hold the inner axle parts
ready to cut off knuckle balls
balls cut off
here is the machined spacer from LCwizard to make the custom inner shafts work. I believe they are designed to make the axle 2-5/8" wider per side. I will have to measure after i get it all back together with the shafts in to see. I also plan on adding IFS hubs for the extra 1.5" per side and doing the FROR tacoma brake kit.
so weird thing is the passenger side has this sheet metal oil dam in it and the other side did not. anyone know if this is a nessecary part or what it is called? I kinda beat the one i have left while removing the knuckle balls. makes me also wonder what happened to the other one?
