Rebuilt 20R with Weber
« on: Oct 02, 2015, 07:05:15 AM »
I recently had the 20r in my truck rebuilt. I have a Weber carb on it, it idles smooth and quiet, but when it revs up the air intake is very loud. This is my first Toyota and weber carb, so I'm not sure if this is normal. I can even hear the intake over the motor while driving down the road. Seems excessively loud.

Yes completely normal. Your oem air filter was in a big shielded box that prevented it from making that obnoxious racket.

Oh ok. I was worried that something wasn't right. It's pretty damn loud, and I don't want to mess up a newly rebuilt motor.

As long as it is performing as it should the sound is just something that comes with a weber unless you adapt your factory air cleaner to it or something similar.
