Heres a new build for me.
1990 Toyota Hilux.

As it sits it has a 2.8L diesel, manual and stock single case with low profile crossmember.
Twin Auto lockers.
Extended shackles and stock springs.
1" wheel spacers.

Put sliders on it

Plans are:
Put a 60" WMS FJ80 based housing in the front
IFS width housing in the rear.
IFS Steering box and high steer.
Twin transfer or 4.7's.
3link+P with 12" Coilovers in the front.
IFS leaves in the rear with decent shocks.
Air bumps on all corners.
Turbo
New flatbed, tight Exo cage and front bumper
35's and sticky 37's.

Lowwww

I am so jealous how you guys can get diesel solid axle trucks from the factory!

Started working on the rear housing for an anti wrap bar.
The rear of this thing will be done faster than the front, I need to decide on a fabbed housing for my custom WMS.

There's more diesel than petrol over here I'd say!

Heres some backstory. I'm a zook guy, through and through but I'm not in denia, to the fact they have limits. I have always wanted a Toyota though, it just hadnt been financially appropriate for me to own one. But this one popped up cheap, so bye bye Zook!

One of my biggest lessons was building this.

I loved my sammie, still have the tub and frame in the yard. But once I built a toyota it's hands down a better rig than the sammie was. I like having a roof lol

Yeah the sealed, single cab is growing on me!

I have a bunch of parts. Currently the plan is to run 12" FOAs, but mounts will be built to suit 14" Fox coilovers.

What is that little cup looking tube with a toyota locking hub in it?

Looks like a gear shift.

I have buddy that has a Suzuki Sidekick with a Audi 1.8TT in it.  He says its fun to drive and seeing guys in Subaru's getting their doors blown off by a real 4x4.
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

I like the shifter that's cool. Nice elite hood as well, one of the best multi purpose shield you can buy bin my opinion.

Fantastic looking work.

That shift knob is awesome.  lol.  If I hadn't already stripped a few briggs and strattons for the pistons I would get that.

So ive been a little slow on the build as the hot weather has come in and parts have been scarce.
But ive sourced an FJ80 front axle which I've cut most of the bracketry off.

Ive found some IFS rear springs after a few failed attempts at receiving the correct parts.

Ill chuck some pics up soon and get the build moving again.

WaffleLux

I swung the 80 diff under the Lux for a look. Im looking to run a zero offset rim, which i think will work nicely.

WaffleLux

Ive been super slack on this build with the heat and the Christmas break from work.

Helipilot77 hooked me up with a LHD steering arm for me to use on my axle to run the tie rod on the front.

I need room for a panhard and probably the draglink. Ideally having no interference straight across the chassis is what i want. So time to make some room.

Heres with the sump off.

Heres the cut sump.

You realise your steering wheel is on the wrong side....

Ive been getting stick about it for months so its your turn for a change.

I'd drive on the wrong side if I could get a 3rd gen factory solid axle with a diesel !

Definitely the better side to drive on!
The old tractor motor is nothing special. Although super basic design. I like it.

the 2L is too smooth to be a tractor motor.
I wouldnt say it was that basic either when compared to a 4d56 mitsu :pokinit: ty

My 2L is far fron smooth haha. It rattles like a paint shaker! It's as reliable as the sun though. They will rev too. I've seen some on the governor all day and they haven't missed a beat.
